How to Stop the Trolls in Your Discussions?

Could anonymous trolls be sent back to the hole they crawled out of thanks to a new Facebook App?

What is the problem?

Abuse of online anonymity.

Why is online anonymity bad?

“When your reputation is on the line, people typically exhibit less bullying, trolling, spamming, sexism, racism, homophobia, violent threats, and other disruptive behaviour.”

Why is anonymity online good?

It can help encourage participation in personal or sensitive discussions or deeply personal topics like health, sexuality, relationships, and religion.

What's the plan?

The new facebook App can apparently verify people by their phone number. If someone is banned for trolling a web forum or discussion topic, the troll can’t delete the app, start again and sign up for a new account. Facebook claims it can also stop fake accounts and accounts deliberately created to cause trouble from posting anonomusly.

If all the hype is to be believe it should be easier (for those of us who create audience content via Facebook) to interact with our audience with a lot less aggro.
